Historic Sutter Street was visited once again by America’s largest cycling race to host the Individual Time Trial and Women’s Team Time Trial for top cyclists around the world. Not only did attendees enjoy witnessing the most internationally respected and esteemed stage race in the U.S., but the entertainment continued at the Lifestyle Festival delivered by race partners and vendors.

El Dorado Hills Art, Beer and Wine Festival
May 7-8 / El Dorado Hills Town Center
Hosted by the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce, this 13th annual festival entertained guests with live music and creative pieces from over 80 artists along Town Center Boulevard, while satisfying palates with great food and tastings from some of the area’s most prestigious wineries and award-winning craft breweries.

Downton Abbey Tea
May 19 / Murer House and Learning Center, Folsom
Guests of this fourth annual tea and fashion show, organized by the Murer House and Learning Center, were dressed to the nines in period attire reflecting the post-Edwardian era of the ever-popular historical drama Downton Abbey. Between ticket sales, raffle drawings, a silent auction and a photo booth, fund-raising efforts—to maintain and operate the historic Giuseppe Murer House—totaled around $4,500.

Mayor’s Ride to the Capitol
May 12 / Historic Folsom to the State Capitol
In honor of National Bike Month, 175 cyclists met in Historic Folsom to celebrate cycling along the 50 Corridor. Folsom Mayor Steve Miklos started the ride 10 years ago with a small group and, this year, it expanded greatly and included AMGEN Tour of California Ambassador and former Amgen cyclist Freddie Rodriguez plus representatives from Sacramento County and the El Dorado Hills CSD. With stops at Hagan Park and Discovery Park for lunch, the final leg took riders from Old Sacramento down to the State Capitol where they joined other bike enthusiasts at the Capitol BikeFest.

Folsom City Host Lions Golf Tournament
May 6 / Empire Ranch Golf Course, Folsom
Presented by the Folsom City Host Lions Club, this third annual four-person, 18-hole scramble welcomed its fellow golfers with a reception that included heavy hors d’oeuvres, range balls, a cart and raffle prizes. Proceeds, which amounted to $5,000, will support Folsom’s Scout programs, other community service projects and local youth scholarships.

Folsom Relay For Life
April 30 / Sutter Middle School, Folsom
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life allowed participants to honor cancer survivors, commemorate those who’ve passed, and raise funds and awareness to support the fight against the disease. Nearly 350 participants on 36 different teams participated in this 24-hour event—with the goal of keeping at least one runner on the track at all times—to symbolize the battle waged around the clock by those facing cancer. The fund-raising efforts have totaled approximately $60,000.
