We are proud to announce our next SCG artist, Ruth Ellen Hoag. Inspired by her lifelong experience with music and Japanese Shodo (an artistic calligraphy tradition spanning nearly 2,000 years), Ruth is a figurative painter whose work has been described as “realistic abstractions.”

As part of her three week residency, Ruth will have two workshops:

Workshop l: The Art of the 20-Minute Painting | Saturday - Sunday | 8/10-8/11 from 10AM - 1PM

Workshop ll: Considering Edges | Tuesday - Wednesday | 8/20-8/21 from 10AM - 1PM

An artist lecture and reception will take place on 8/17 from 4PM - 7PM.

Her open studio hours are open to the public and will run from August 8th-28th from 12:00 - 2:00PM each day. We invite you to witness her in action as she demonstrates her artistic techniques and shares insights into her creative process.
