Placer SPCA is seeking nominations for our 2024 Hero Awards, which will be presented at Placer SPCA’s Guardian Angel Gala (formerly Funny Bones) on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

Every year, we honor people, animals, businesses and/or organizations that have gone above and beyond to demonstrate how strong the human-animal bond is with Placer SPCA Hero Awards.

Hero Award recipients from recent years have included Enzo (a Placer SPCA alum dog) who passed the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test just one year after being adopted. He went on to pass the Urban CGC test and began visiting high school students in their classrooms, where he helps to reduce their stress.

Previous recipients have also included Dr. Briana Hamamoto, a local equine veterinarian who volunteered to help during the 2022 Mosquito Fire. She performed on-site exams and check-ups twice a day to around 200 animals temporarily sheltered at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. She was honored for her heroic work during the Mosquito Fire.

This year’s Guardian Angel Gala, Celebrating Happy Tails and Meowgical Endings, is Placer SPCA’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The evening includes food and fun, cocktails and celebration, live and silent auctions, and many shared heartfelt moments as we come together to raise funds and make a difference for animals in need. The fundraiser gala will conclude with a magic show featuring Cosmo, who will take the stage to daze and amaze with some mind-blowing magic tricks up his sleeve.
