Placerville Event: Mataro-Kimekomi Doll Workshop

The joy of doll-making brings you in contact with the soul of Japan. The Mataro Doll is a type of Kimekomi doll (wooden dolls dressed in kimono). These dolls were a product of the Edo period (1600-1867) and have a history of more than 300 years. Graceful, elegant, and rich facial expressions symbolic of the soul of the Japanese are unique to Kamigamo Style-Mataro Dolls. Even the beginner can make a Mataro Doll without difficulty. Meeting location Placerville area. Ages 10+ w/paid adult welcome. Deadline for registration May 14 (time needed to create doll kits). Cost: $55/members, $65/non-members, plus doll kit ($40-$50), and $10 lunch if desired. A detailed email will be sent once you register online.
