Foresthill Event: Granite Chief Whiskey Creek Overnight Backpack

Saturday August 15th 8AM to Sunday August 16th 5PM    ARC volunteer Tom Dodson will lead this exploration of the Granite Chief Wilderness Area from the Grayhorse Valley Trailhead, Grayhorse Valley Trail (15E11). You will start off the day with a hike up to the end of the Grayhorse valley up to the saddle. From the east you will be able to see the Granite Chief Wilderness. We will hike down Shanks Cove Trail which has beautiful waterfalls and pools and camping at Whisky Creek for the evening. On Sunday you will be hiking back up along the backside of Picayune Valley. This is an overnight trip, so bring your own backpack with supplies and food. Hike difficulty, intermediate – with 1000 ft. elevation gains at the beginning and end of the hike, a total of 14 miles round trip. Age minimum: 14 years-old with backpacking experience.
