Carmichael to Sacramento Event: Great American Triathlon

Fuel your competitive fire and benefit local non-profits by competing in the Great American Triathlon, taking place July 20th on the beautiful American River Parkway. With a challenging course set along one of the most beautiful urban landscapes in America, the no-swim triathlon is a 24.42 mile run, ride and paddle event unlike any other. You can compete as an individual or as part of a team in race categories for all skill levels, from competitive triathletes to weekend warriors. The challenge of the no-swim triathlon is a real one, and the ebb and flow of the American River pits you against Mother Nature herself. Space is limited to 300 teams and 900 Ironperson competitors, so dust off your paddles, grab your friends, and sign up today to experience the next generation of fun in the Sacramento sun!

The Great American Triathlon follows the historic route of Eppie’s Great Race, starting at William Pond Recreation Area with a 5.82-mile run leg along the American River Parkway to the Guy West Bridge near Sacramento State University. The 12.5-mile bike leg takes competitors back upstream on the paved bike path to the Lower Sunrise Recreation Area where the event transitions to the final leg, a 6.10 mile paddle down river to River Bend Park.

Runners should arrive at William Pond Recreation Area between 6:00 am – 7:15 am to find parking and use restroom facilities. All runners should be lined up at the start by 7:45 am. Adaptive participants will start at 7:58 am and general participants (both Iron person and team runners) will start at 8:00 am.
