Something you definitely don’t want to see while scrambling out the door, squirming toddler in hands, is a notification saying: “Your Reservation Has Been Cancelled.” Especially when you’re heading to The Pantry, Roseville’s new go-to spot for Sunday brunch.

I knew the wait would be brutal—particularly for my almost two-year-old—so I called. Thankfully, the friendly staff swiftly placed us back on the waitlist, perfectly timed to our arrival. Good thing, too—as we scrambled in, the place was packed. Every table was taken, and the cozy entryway was filled with others awaiting what smelled like the perfect brunch.

We were seated quickly and immediately given kiddie cups and some much-appreciated coffee. Perusing the menu, I was pleasantly surprised: alongside all the breakfast classics, there were a few dishes with a playful Pakistani/Mediterranean flair—cheesy breakfast naan with garlic sauce and eggs, pita chips atop shakshuka, spicy omelets with paratha, and baklava pancakes. I even saw dressed-up gnocchi with bacon, microgreens, mushrooms, and two eggs—unexpected and tempting.

Smoked Salmon Hash

While it was a difficult choice (believe me, the chicken and waffles were summoning hard), we landed on three dishes: the crab bennie, generously topped with crab; the smoked salmon hash with potatoes, wild-caught Norwegian smoked salmon, and eggs, to stay with the maritime theme; and, because we couldn’t resist, the baklava pancakes.

The bed of seasoned yogurt on the smoked salmon hash was a standout—so good we nearly asked for a second portion to dip our remaining potatoes in. (Coming from someone who’s not a potato person, that says a lot). The crab benedict was solid, too, with a nicely done hollandaise. And those pancakes? A touch more cardamom would’ve elevated them further, but the combo of pistachios, honey, and sweet cream made them a decadent delight.

The entire experience and service ran like clockwork: friendly, smooth, and timely. The Pantry isn’t just doing brunch—it’s reimagining it with thoughtful global touches. Trust your cravings—and trust the crowd. In a city with no shortage of brunch options, The Pantry is clearly earning its place at the table.
