What’s Up In November 2024: Notable Happenings in our Local Communities.

Local brunch chain Mario's Early Toast (mariosearlytoast.com), known for their vast mimosa menu and all-day brunch and lunch offerings (including hearty classics, plus “pro-fitness” and gluten-free options), is expanding from four locations (Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, and Folsom) to six next year; additional eateries are opening in El Dorado Hills’ Sienna Ridge center (3375 Bass Lake Road) and Auburn's Higgins Marketplace.

Locally based sandwich chain Beach Hut Deli (beachhutdeli.com) opened at Placerville's Apple Farm Place retail center. Sited at 1440 Broadway, expect great food (like the popular Surfin’ Bird, Marley Nachos, and North Shore), plus beers on tap—all in a beachy, Hawaiian-inspired ambiance.

Real estate developer Somers West (somerswest.com) broke ground on Braden (bradenca.com), a “10-minute town” outside of Rancho Cordova that prioritizes walkability, renewable energy, and low-impact living. Upon full buildout, it will span 2,667 acres with up to 8,000 residences, 1.3 million square feet of commercial space, 35% dedicated open space, 75 miles of multi-use paths and bike lanes, 48 miles of trails, three anticipated elementary schools and a middle/high school, six central mobility hubs, and more.

Le Bon Vin (lebonvinboutique.com), which translates to “the good wine,” is an intimate bottle shop and tasting room serving old-world wines from across the globe (and locally), plus beer on draft, and charcuterie boards. Located at 6099 Horseshoe Bar Road, Suite A, in Loomis, the husband-and-wife-owned establishment also hosts private events and monthly tasting flight nights showcasing a featured winery. The owners’ goal is “to introduce the community to new wines and expand people’s palates in a fun, casual atmosphere.”

Rest Recovery Wellness (restrecoveryroseville.com), a new-to-market “luxury wellness boutique dedicated to affordable anti-aging and holistic health solutions”—including services like compression therapy, cold plunge, infrared sauna, hyperbaric chamber, float spa, and red-light therapy—is opening its first Northern California location in an approximately 2,200-square-foot space at 10002 Foothills Boulevard, Suite 100, in Roseville's Blue Oaks Plaza. Scheduled to open this month, the facility will offer memberships and accommodate drop-ins.

PickUpUSA (pickupusafitness.com)—a community-oriented basketball gym that offers daily officiated pickup games managed by referees and staff, plus an engaging youth league with weekly practices, skills clinics, and games—opened at 11135 Trade Center Drive, Suite 160, in Rancho Cordova. The 20,000-square-foot facility also boasts a full fitness area complete with cardio equipment, dumbbells, squat racks, and a turf functional training area, plus three state-of-the-art basketball courts, a shooting machine, showers, and relaxing sports lounge.

Boutique fitness center Studio on Sutter (studioonsutter.com) opened at 608 1/2 Sutter Street in Folsom. The two-story facility features a free weight room, spin studio, a variety of daily classes (yoga, Pilates, HIIT, barre, etc.), personal training, massage therapy, nutritional and dietary services, e-bike and e-scooter rentals, and a cozy café for post-workout refreshments.

Japanese fusion restaurant Azayaka (azayakasushi.com), which has an existing location in Sacramento, is opening a second site at 6726 Stanford Ranch Road, Suite 7, in Roseville. Customers can look forward to a 16-course seasonal omakase menu, sushi bar, and a la carte menu of Japanese dishes infused with French and European flair, with an option to dine in their traditional tatami-style seating area.
