When you walk into Boring Rose Brewing Co., you feel like you’re on vacation. The brewery doubles as a plant shop and is decorated from floor to ceiling with gorgeous succulents and tropical flora. The family-owned business (co-owned by the “Boring” and “Rose” families) highlights their collective knowledge and passion for science, plants, and pints. While the inside is relaxing and beautiful, you can also enjoy their picturesque patio overlooking the El Dorado Hills Town Center’s waterfront. Now, let’s get to the bites and brews! My daughter and her friend shared a soft pretzel that was the size of their heads. It came with a delicious house made-beer cheese sauce and whole-grain mustard for dunking. We also ordered the chips & dip: kettle-cooked potato chips with house-made French onion dip. It was so good I took an order home for later. The Chinese chicken salad—a hearty helping of chopped romaine, cabbage, carrots, green onions, cilantro, toasted almonds, mandarin oranges, crunchy wontons, chilled chicken, and house-made ginger sesame dressing—was perfect for a warm day and for sharing. As for beer, I went with the Chaparral Blonde. On the menu it’s described as an easy on the palate, easy drinkin’, biscuity ale with low caramel notes”; I describe it as “light, crisp, and refreshing”—so tasty, in fact, that I purchased a four-pack to go!
