The Wild Pea














The Wild Pea (thewildpea.com), a children’s consignment shop that offers a variety of gently used kids’ clothing and shoes, plus maternity and baby items, reopened under new ownership at 2864 Ray Lawyer Drive in Placerville. Stop by to consign or shop and be sure to check out the kids’ play area.

Mikuni Sushi

Beloved sushi restaurant Mikuni (mikunisushi.com)—which has been innovating fresh Japanese dishes and serving eclectic sushi in lively environs since 1987—is opening at 4361 Town Center Boulevard, Suite 111, in the El Dorado Hills Town Center. The award-winning restaurant group has two existing locations in Roseville, and one each in Fair Oaks, Folsom, Elk Grove, Midtown, Davis, Concord, and Arden-Arcade.

Locally based Saigon Alley Kitchen & Bar (saigonalley.com), which specializes in Vietnamese-inspired craft cocktails and shareable tapas with a focus on seafood and plant-based options, is opening its third local location in Folsom’s Broadstone Marketplace at 2770 East Bidwell Street, Suite 600. The eatery is scheduled to open in early 2025. 

Pedal Car Pizza & Gelato (@pedal_car_pizza) is coming to 222 Vernon Street in Roseville. The elevated fast-casual eatery will specialize in wood-fired California-style pizza with a Neapolitan twist, in addition to offering beer, wine, and gelato.

Vuori (vuoriclothing.com), a Carlsbad-based clothing retailer known for selling performance apparel (joggers, boardshorts, tank tops, polos, accessories, etc.) with a coastal California flair, is opening at 1151 Galleria Boulevard, Suite 1035, inside the Westfield Galleria at Roseville.

Bay Area-based dim sum chain 88 Bao Bao (88baobao.menu11.com) is expanding to Roseville’s Freedom Pointe Plaza (4181 Thrive Drive, Suite 120). In addition to steamed vegetable dumplings, pork xiao long bao, and BBQ pork buns, the eatery also serves dishes like wonton soup, Shanghai-style chicken chow mein, and boba tea.

Pause Coffee House

Pause Coffee House (pausecoffee.house)—whose ethos is to take a seat, catch your breath, and “pause,” while savoring some stillness with a cup of the best coffee around—opened their third location at 3565 Taylor Road, Suite 1-A, in Loomis. From the beautifully designed interior to the delicious hand-roasted beans and house-roasted syrups, the café provides high-quality beverages and food alongside genuine service.

Mind Garden

Mind Garden (mindgardenfolsom.com), “a gathering place” for nourishment, connection, healing, and growth, opened at 929 Sutter Street in Historic Folsom. In addition to a tranquil garden, they offer yoga, meditation, mental health therapy (applying both holistic and cutting-edge techniques), massage, acupuncture, and naturopathic medicine. 

Art Faire Studios (artfairestudios.com), a creative space allowing people of all ages and abilities to learn a variety of skills—from painting and jewelry-making to quilting and pottery—is opening a five-room space at 3275 Coach Lane, Suite C, in Cameron Park. Classes will be taught by area artists; the business also plans to host community art fairs, weekly “paint and sip” events, entrepreneurial programs for children, and summer camps. 

Troublemakers Beer Garden

Enjoy craft brews, local wine, daily live music, and delicious food (including chicken verde tamales, BBQ brisket sliders, flatbread pizzas, and ice cream sandwiches) at Troublemakers Beer Garden (troublemakersbeergarden.com)—a family-friendly (and dog-friendly!) outdoor oasis at 7221 Coloma Road in Lotus.
