Q&A with Local Companies: Adriana Espinosa at Maxence The Brand

El Dorado Hills, 415-770-2568, maxencethebrand.com, @maxencethebrand

Services or products you offer: Colorful, unisex, and oversized clothing for babies and toddlers.

What you enjoy most about your profession: Being able to create comfortable and fun kids’ clothes.

You started your business, because: When I was pregnant with my first son, Maxence, I was so excited to start buying baby clothes but couldn't find anything for boys that wasn't blue or didn’t have trucks or dinosaurs on it. I decided to create my own colorful clothing that could be worn by both girls and boys, leaving outdated societal gender norms behind.

Most memorable experience as an entrepreneur: The first sale we made and seeing that our brand had reached the other side of the U.S.

First job: The juice bar inside World Gym in Citrus Heights. I'll never forget it!

Favorite food: Vegan pad Thai.

Favorite local restaurant: Selland's Market-Café.

Last big purchase: A new couch for my living room.

Favorite local event: The weekly Folsom Mom Walk that starts at World Traveler Coffee Roasters—I couldn't live without my fellow mamas!

Favorite small business: I love the selection at Brainy Zoo Toys.

When not working, you can be found: Trying new vegan recipes.

You love living here, because: It's beautiful, family-friendly, and there are so many outside activities for kids.
