Making Spirits Bright: 5 Christmas Cocktails

When the weather outside is frightful, what could be more delightful than enjoying a cocktail indoors? The holidays are the perfect time to brush up on your bartending skills. Whether you've got a calendar full of parties, or are looking to treat yourself, we asked some of our favorite mixologists for their top festive libations to fill your season with cheer.

Menorah Martini

•    2 oz. dry gin
•    .25 oz. raspberry syrup
•    .75 oz. Cocchi Americano
•    .75 oz. blue curaçao
•    .75 oz. lemon juice, freshly squeezed
•    Blue sparkle sprinkles, for the rim

Wet rim of martini glass and dip into a small plate of blue sparkle sprinkles until rim is fully covered. Combine all ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Shake until chilled and strain into the glass.

•    1.5 oz. Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur
•    .5 oz. fresh lime juice
•    .5 oz. fresh egg white
•    .25 oz. absinthe
•    .25 oz. brown sugar simple syrup
•    .25 oz. fresh orange juice
•    Fresh orange zest, to garnish

Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Dry shake until foamy. Add ice to the shaker. Shake until chilled. Double strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with fresh orange zest.

•    1.5 oz. gin
•    1 oz. lime juice
•    .5 oz. elderflower liqueur
•    .75 oz. ginger syrup
•    Muddled mandarins (to preference)
•    Rosemary sprig, to garnish
•    Pomegranate seeds, to garnish

Combine all ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Shake until chilled and serve in a rocks glass. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and sprinkle of pomegranate seeds.

Bad Santa

•    1.5 oz. vanilla vodka
•    1 oz. peppermint schnapps
•    1 oz. Baileys Irish Cream
•    1 oz. espresso
•    .5 oz. peppermint simple syrup
•    Crushed peppermint, for the rim
•    Candy cane, to garnish

Wet rim of coupe glass and dip into a small plate of crushed peppermint until the rim is fully covered. Combine all ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Shake until chilled and double strain into the glass. Garnish with a candy cane.


Spiked Apple Cider

•    2 oz. silver tequila
•    .5 oz. orange liqueur
•    4 oz. apple cider
•    1 tbsp. lime juice (½ a lime)
•    1-2 tsp. maple syrup
•    Cinnamon sugar & flaky sea salt, for the rim
•    Dehydrated apple slice, to garnish
•    Smoked cinnamon stick, to garnish

Wet rim of rocks glass and dip into a small plate of cinnamon sugar and flaky sea salt until rim is fully covered. Combine all ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Shake until chilled and strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with an apple slice and cinnamon stick.
