A: Simply put, anything and everything that will maximize the total energy stored in each plant and tree. A few focuses include:


Supply nutrients that promote root, trunk, and branch development while minimizing new leaf growth.

Prepare to provide protection for sensitive plants from cold weather damage.

Adjust irrigation controls to account for weather changes.

Leave perennial die back on most plants as winter insulation until mid-February.

Feed all acid-loving plants (these include azaleas, hydrangeas, daffodils, and more) in late fall.
