Ask the Expert: Should I Get Blinds On Windows Where I Also Have Drapes?

Q: Should I get blinds on windows where I also have drapes?
A: For many years, the window covering design industry has seen layering of window coverings. Often, soft drapery panels frame and accent functional window coverings on the window. This can be a preferred design option for clients who feel the existing blinds aren’t decorative and appreciate adding a soft fabric look. But like any fabric, drapery panels can take up space on the wall and add an additional element of housekeeping with care and maintenance of the fabric panels; additionally, there’s the chance you’ll tire of the drapery color or texture. Modern design of current window covering options has allowed products to be more interesting in design and function. New products can be both functional and the focal point, allowing it to accent a space without the addition of drapery panels.
