New and Coming Soon In August 2022

Holly’s Hill Vineyard (hollyshill.com)—sited at 3680 Leisure Lane in Placerville and known for their fine wines, friendly atmosphere, and sweeping views—announced that they’ll be introducing beer in early 2023. For the past several years, they’ve been adding hops to their viognier just prior to canning, and the new endeavor will have them making an IPA, pale ale, and possibly wheat beer.

Luxury salon, Nails 19 (nails19.com), which has an existing location in Roseville, is expanding to Folsom. In addition to manicures, pedicures, and full sets, they also offer waxing and other nail services. The second location is scheduled to fill an approximately 6,900-square-foot space at 2761 East Bidwell Street, Suite 200.

Folsom’s Cooper’s Coffee House has new owners, Mindy and Cherokee Valeria—and a new name. Big Wave Coffeehouse (bigwavecoffeehouse.com) will continue serving the same high-quality java, in addition to non-coffee, Hawaiian-themed drinks, like the Tsunami—an “ono soda” featuring Sprite mixed with blue raspberry and coconut syrups and a splash of cream. The new décor includes rotating works from area artists, plus succulents and tropical plants from local shops that are available for purchase.

Tong Thai Bistro (tongthaibistro.com) opened at 25035 Blue Ravine Road, Suite 120, in Folsom. Currently open daily from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 4:30-9 p.m., they offer ample lunch specials and all the Thai classics, along with chef’s specials like Basil Crispy Pork Belly and a “Super Healthy Bowl” with salmon, broccoli, green beans, bell peppers, basil, zucchini, and panang curry sauce.

Enjoy homemade pasta, including fettucine with organic basil and spinach, beet pipe rigate, and mac & cheese, plus eclectic coffee creations at Pasta Zone (pasta-zone.com) in Rocklin. Visit them daily from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at 3031 Stanford Ranch Road, Suite 13.

Local chain LaziCow, which serves handmade ice cream, ramen, rice bowls, milk teas, and more, is adding a location in Roseville (1850 Douglas Boulevard). For opening updates and more info, follow them on Instagram @lazicow.roseville.

Kiki’s Chicken Place (kikischicken.com) has expanded to Cameron Park (3952 Cambridge Road). The local chain strives to serve the best fried chicken in the area—from chicken and waffles to their famous Kiki’s Fries (topped with fried chicken, ranch, blue cheese, buffalo sauce, and mozzarella)—using fresh, never frozen ingredients.

A new craft beer and wine bar opened at 2270 Nicolaus Road, Suite 112, in Lincoln. Brothers Taphouse (brothers-taphouse.com) is open daily from noon-10 p.m. and features 30 taps, plus TVs, and to-go cans.

Check out The Market on Main—a family-owned and operated corner store located in Placerville at 585 Main Street (in what used to be the oldest house on the block, known as the J. Wonderly House/N.C. Fassett Groceries & Provisions). The clean, comfortable space—with a picturesque patio to boot—offers healthy lunches (market-made salads, charcuterie, parfaits, etc.), local pints on tap, artisan-made Argentinian empanadas with house-made sauces like chimichurri, bottles of wine,  and weekly "Tasty Tuesday" specials like kālua pork. Emerge Medical Aesthetics (emerge-med.com), a med spa offering cosmetic anti-aging treatments like Botox, fillers, and intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, opened at 785 Hana Way, Suite 203, in Folsom.

After seven years serving high-quality, locally roasted coffee, Placerville favorite Totem has transitioned to Pachamama Coffee (pachamamacoffee.com). Pachamama has cafés throughout the region, including their main roasting operations in El Dorado Hills, and is keeping the same Totem staff.

Nugget Markets is expanding! A 50,000-square-foot location is slated to open in Whitney Ranch at the corner of University Avenue and Whitney Ranch Parkway in Rocklin. The artisan grocery store, with headquarters in Yolo County, will anchor a new 20-acre shopping center and is scheduled to open by 2024.
