Q&A with Local Companies: Kayla Herbert at Cali Fluff Co.

Services or products you offer: Handmade wearables for you and your fluffy friend, specializing in cute and trendy dog bandanas for everyday adventures.

What you enjoy most about your profession: I love being able to see so many cute dogs [become] even cuter with our products! I get to look at cute pups all day, and I can't complain about that.

Fun fact about your company: We have grown exclusively because Instagram, thanks to the dog influencer community. Additionally, I never knew how to sew until I decided to start my business.

First job: Hostess at TGI Friday’s.

Favorite food: Italian.

Last big purchase: A new car; I finally made the switch to a hybrid.

When not working, you can find me: Playing with my two dogs Molly (golden retriever) and Charlie (Dutch shepherd). They are the cutest and silliest pups.

You love living here, because: I love the sense of community. I recently moved here from the Bay Area, and I love that it's a little slower. The people are really nice, too!

Customer service is: One of the most important aspects of any business and the key to my small business.

Favorite local restaurant: Fourk Kitchen and Citizen Vine.

You started your business, because: I wanted to make my own cute bandanas for Molly when she was a puppy, but she had zero tolerance for me to tie on a bandana. That's why I decided to go with the snap bandana; easy on and off for those impatient pups. I really love how you can totally change your pup's look with a bandana, be it a festive holiday bandana or a happy hour wine bandana.

Most memorable experience as an entrepreneur: First ones that come to mind: first sale (of course, but I still get excited about every sale), being featured in British Vogue was big too, and doing my first in-person booth where I got to see people interact with my products in person.
