May Calendar: May is National Correct Posture Month

5th) Disney’s Aladdin Jr. St. John Notre Dame School in Folsom presents their school musical at their Gallagher Hall at 7 p.m. The spectacular 60-minute musical includes a cast of over 80 students and will tell the legendary tale of the lovable thief with the heart of gold. Songs include favorites like “Friend Like Me,” “A Whole New World,” and “Prince Ali,” as well as new songs added for the Broadway production.

Roseville Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament


6th) Roseville Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament. Spend a day of fun and golf at Woodcreek Golf Club. The day will include lunch, contests and prizes, dinner, and an awards reception. Proceeds from the Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament help provide scholarships and fee waiver assistance for qualifying families to participate in parks and recreation activities.

7th) Four Fires Food & Wine Festival. Celebrating four iconic wine regions that inspire the winemaking of Amador Wine Country, local wineries will pair their wines with open flame cuisine at Amador County Fair Grounds, Plymouth. The event will feature wines representing South of France (Rhône), Italy, Spain/Portugal (Iberia), and “Heritage California” (Zinfandel and Mission). Taste more than 100 award-winning wines and enjoy live music, a silent auction, and a wine and beer garden.

7th) Foothills Brewfest. Head to the Gold Country Fairgrounds from 1-5 p.m. for the finest craft beers from regional breweries. There will also be music, games, and food trucks. Proceeds benefit The Rotary Club of Auburn  and Gold Country Fair Heritage Foundation. For adults aged 21+ only.

Cruisin’ for K-9s


7th) Cruisin’ for K-9s. Join Cappuccino Cruisers at Denio’s Farmers’ Market in Roseville from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at this car show benefitting Roseville Police Department’s K-9 Unit and Placer SPCA. There will be classic cars, oldies music, best-of-show awards, raffle prizes, and more.

North Auburn Artists’ Studios Tour


7th) North Auburn Artists’ Studios Tour. Over 20 North Auburn artists will open their studios over Mother’s Day weekend from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Enjoy driving through the foothills and watching artists demonstrate their creative talents in a variety of media.

7th) BerryFest. Another great way to enjoy Mother’s Day is at BerryFest at Vernon Street, Roseville. There will be lots of strawberries and strawberry treats, the Little Miss Strawberry Pageant, the strawberry shortcake eating contest, an adult beverage garden, vendors, community stage performances, and strolling entertainment.

El Dorado Hills Art, Beer, & Wine Festival


7th) El Dorado Hills Art, Beer, & Wine Festival. Celebrate Mother’s Day at El Dorado Hills Town Center from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Over 80 of the area’s best artists will display their fine art along Town Center Boulevard, and there will also be great food, live music, and award-winning wineries and breweries pouring unlimited tastings.

Gold Country 5K


14th) Gold Country 5K. Start and end this race at El Dorado Hills Town Center featuring a flat and fast two loop course. The 5K event will be followed by a Kids K Fun Run and Finisher Fitness Festival presented by Marshall Medical Center and other sponsors.

14th) Pakistan Cultural Festival. The first ever Pakistan Cultural Festival will be held at Vernon Street Town Square, Roseville, from 1-6 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will include authentic Pakistani street food, henna tattoos, art workshops, clothing and jewelry, folk dances, games, and a Sufi concert.

Folsom Handcar Derby


14th) Folsom Handcar Derby. Watch (or participate) as local businesses, groups, and charities compete to get their handcar across the finish line in the fastest time. The event will take place at 9 a.m. along East Bidwell Street at Broadstone Parkway in front of Broadstone Marketplace. All proceeds benefit Folsom, El Dorado, and Sacramento Historical Railroad Association.

19th) Rocklin Community Festival. Enjoy carnival rides, a food court, beer and wine garden, community booths and craft vendors, live music, and more at Johnson-Springview Park. The “Midway of Fun” carnival will include rides for kids of all ages.

21st) Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. Rolling Hills Blue Star Moms—that raises awareness of the personal sacrifices of members of our Armed Forces—is organizing this dinner complete with Caesar salad, garlic bread, and dessert, at Folsom Veterans Hall from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Options include meat sauce, vegetarian sauce, and gluten-free pasta option along with a full non-hosted bar. There will also be raffle prizes and a silent auction.

Art Studio Tour


21st) Art Studio Tour. El Dorado Hills Arts Association is conducting a free, self-guided tour through artists’ studios in El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Shingle Springs, Rescue, and Placerville from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit 15 locations to view the diverse works of 43 artists. Begin your journey with a tour of The Gallery at 48 Natoma, Folsom.

Spring Concert


22nd) Spring Concert. Winds of Faith presents a variety of fun and familiar tunes from sacred to secular, pop to patriotic, at Lincoln Community Church (950 Joiner Parkway) at 5 p.m. The band’s May concert will pay respect to our troops and country, featuring the tunes “This Is My Country,” “Land of Liberty,” and “Sultana.” Admission is free (freewill offerings accepted) and there will be a drawing of prizes.

“Twelve Dancing Princesses”


24th) “Twelve Dancing Princesses.” Pioneer Union School District will hold its Spring Musical “Twelve Dancing Princesses” at Pioneer Elementary Multi-Purpose Room at 6:30 p.m. The pop-rock musical adaptation of the Grimm Brothers Fairytale will feature princes and princesses, singing cows, and other delightful characters. Students, families, and the community are all invited.

25th Annual Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance Golf Tournament


26th) 25th Annual Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance Golf Tournament. Come golf and support families in our region battling childhood cancer. Spend the day with spectacular golf, fun, food, and prizes at The Ridge Golf Course & Event Center, Auburn. Registration opens at 8 a.m. All proceeds benefit children fighting cancer in our region. 


2nd) Barn Quilt Square Paint Party. The El Dorado County Farm Trails and Quilt Trail Project presents this quilt block workshop at Rainbow Orchards in Camino from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Paint your own quilt block to display on your barn, house or yard! Begin with a 2’x 2’ board and go through each step—drafting, taping and painting—with help from four experienced painters. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
