New Businesses on the Block — January 2022

Foodies are in for a serious treat once Local Kitchens (localkitchens.com)—a micro food hall housing the region’s best restaurants under one roof (including Señor Sisig, Curry Up Now, The Melt, and Nash & Proper)—opens at 10357 Fairway Drive, Suite 130, in Roseville. The Bay Area-based concept allows customers to mix and match dishes from multiple restaurants all on one order for dine-in, pickup, or delivery. University of Beer (theuob.com)—a local, family-owned chain that features over 40 carefully selected drafts in both popular and niche styles—opened its fifth location at 1516 Eureka Road in Roseville. Open daily from 11 a.m.-11 p.m., they also serve hearty pub grub like beer-battered fries, loaded nachos, and Cajun shrimp mac & cheese.

Locally owned Bennett Hospitality Group—the folks behind Bennett’s Kitchen Bar Market and Bennett's American Cooking (bennettskitchen.com)—signed a lease on the space at 6604 Lonetree Boulevard in Rocklin. Their new venture, Bennett’s Westside Kitchen Bar Market, will open next fall and feature lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch with a focus on fresh, house-made plates.

Faria Bakery (fariabakery.com), known for their naturally leavened breads and buttery pastries that use locally sourced grains, is expanding to 604 Sutter Street in Historic Folsom. The bakeshop, which has an existing brick and mortar in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood, is slated to open this spring.

Lima natives Giancarlo Zapata (chef) and Marleny Chávez (pastry chef) create Peruvian delights, such as ceviche, lomo saltado, and passion fruit cheesecake at their new locale in Roseville: Chicha Peruvian Kitchen & Café (chichaperuviankitchenycafe.com). Sited at 1079 Sunrise Avenue, Suite O, the restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner with brunch on Sundays.

A new pool hall is scheduled to open this month at 1327 Broadway in Placerville. HangTown Billiards (hangtownbilliards.com) will be the city’s first billiards locale in over a decade and offer $12 hourly table rates.

Irvine-based franchise YogaSix (yogasix.com) is opening a location at 4311 Post Street, Suite 420-A, in El Dorado Hills. The aptly named studio offers six types of energizing, empowering, and fun classes, including hot yoga and slow flow.

Viscuso’s Pizza & Draft Beer is opening this month at 2222 Francisco Drive in El Dorado Hills. In addition to a variety of fresh-made pizzas and flatbreads, patrons can expect 20 craft beer taps, a large game room, multiple TVs, outdoor patio, and a lengthy list of appetizers. Weekday happy hour is from 2-6 p.m.

The welcoming, supportive studio offers single class passes and a monthly membership.
