Best In Show: Holiday Performance Roundup

The weather might be frightful, but the shows featured here are delightful—and indoors! Don your favorite festive attire and enjoy one, or more, of these holiday performances.

Holiday Pops 2021


This year, Placer Pops Chorale— an auditioned choral group of around 75 singers that perform with its own orchestra—is bringing Holiday Pops 2021 to three venues: Harris Center (December 3-4), Auburn State Theatre (December 10-11), and William Jessup University Theatre (December 18). Celebrate the season with traditional holiday classics performed by the high-quality, highly entertaining group.

"Holiday Treasures"


Folsom Lake Symphony invites you to enjoy the season’s most festive pieces, such as “Sleigh Ride,” “O Holy Night,” and “The Christmas Waltz,” in addition to selections from Messiah, The Nutcracker, and The Polar Express—all alongside internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Monica Danilov—at their Holiday Treasures show on December 11 (7:30 p.m.) and December 12 (2 p.m.) at the Harris Center.

"Holiday in the Hills"


Sutter Street Theatre’s beloved classic Holiday in the Hills—a show featuring historical figures, dynamic characters, and current music—is back! Performances run December 4-23 on Thursdays (7 p.m.), Fridays and Saturdays (8 p.m.), and Sundays (4 p.m.).

El Dorado Musical Theatre, perform "Holiday Celebration"


Don’t miss out on this one-time opportunity to see High Voltage, a group of well-trained performers and entertainers from El Dorado Musical Theatre, perform Holiday Celebration on December 22 at 7 p.m. The Harris Center is hosting this fan favorite featuring new and classic holiday hits.

"The Nutcracker" will take place at Placer High School


Revisit a timeless ballet in a historic theater! Placer Theatre Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker will take place at Placer High School in Auburn and feature favorite sequences like “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Show times vary with performances December 3-5 and December 11-12.

"The 12 Dames of Christmas"


The Folsom Concert Association is bringing Emmy-nominated singer Angela Ingersoll to the Harris Center for The 12 Dames of Christmas on December 5. Beginning at 2 p.m., Ingersoll will sing holiday hits from a dozen yuletide divas, including Judy Garland, Julie Andrews, and Janis Joplin.

Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet, a pre-professional school and company located in El Dorado Hills, is performing The Nutcracker at the Harris Center. Join Clara and her nutcracker prince on an enchanted journey through the land of snow and kingdom of sweets in this timeless classic. Shows run December 17-19 and times vary.

"A Hawkins Holiday"


Join the Hawkins Musical Theatre and Tap Company for A Hawkins Holiday on December 4-5—a family-friendly celebration full of festive music, song, and dance. Show times are at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The talented 31-piece Winds of Faith ensemble presents a variety of heart-warming Christmas music for the entire family at its Christmas Concert on December 12. Admission is free but donations will be accepted. The show begins at 6 p.m. at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Rocklin.

Through December 26, B Street Theatre presents A Child’s Christmas in Reno—a comedy with all the trimmings about two brothers who travel home to spend Christmas with their widowed father. But their dad has a special gift for them: a new wife! Show times vary.

"A Dickens of a Christmas"


Head to Tower Theater in Downtown Roseville on December 2, 3, 4, or 6 for a production of A Dickens of a Christmas. Presented by Take Note Troupe, the family-friendly extravaganza promises familiar carols, dancing, and heartwarming scenes for the whole family.
