Are you bored of your recipe repertoire and looking to spice up suppertime, or simply seeking someone else to meal plan and prep for you? If so, a meal kit delivery service might be for you! We reviewed various companies and present our findings in this month’s We Tried It column.

1/
HelloFresh

PROS: If you’re learning how to cook or advancing your cooking skills, HelloFresh offers a variety of tasty options for your cooking expertise. You have the ability to customize your box based on family size or dietary needs. Also, they give you a step-by-step recipe card (photos and all) for your cooking process that you can save to remake the dish at a later date.

CONS: Some of the meals do take more than 30 minutes to prepare and cook.

PRICE: $40-$90 for weekly meal plans

2/ Gobble

PROS: Chefs prepare the meal for you (adios, chopping veggies), making sure it won’t take longer than 15 minutes or require more than one pan to make. They have a variety of plans for those on the go, ensuring you have a nutritious, delicious meal with little thought involved. Plans can be customized to special dietary needs or kids’ tastes, too, and you can add on side dishes and lunch choices.

CONS: Some meals made need additional spices of your own to kick up the flavor.

PRICE: $72-$144 for weekly meal plans

3/ Purple Carrot

PROS: This is a 100% vegan meal plan, complete with recyclable packaging! Each fresh, plant-based plate takes no longer than 30 minutes to prepare and comes packed with high protein staples like tofu, seitan, and quinoa. They also provide side dish options that only take five minutes to make. It’s ideal if you’re thinking of venturing into a vegan lifestyle but don’t know how or what to cook.

CONS: It’s limited in dietary restriction customization, offering a few options for those who are gluten-free.

PRICE: $71-$94 for weekly meal plans

4/ Sun Basket

PROS: Talk about variety! Sun Basket offers a generous selection in meal plans, ranging from those needing quick and easy meals or people adhering to Paleo, gluten-free, or diabetes-friendly diets. Along with this, they offer add-ons that provide breakfast, lunch, and snack choices to keep you going throughout the day. We’re also fans of the fact that they source fresh, organic, and sustainable ingredients.

CONS: The meat items that are included with the plans are on the smaller side.

PRICE: $51 (classic meal plan)-$175 weekly (family meal plan)
