Crumb Pies in Rocklin

Crumb Pies

Rocklin, 707-671-2990, crumbpies.com

You may think you’ve had the best apple pie at some point in your life, but I’m here to politely tell you that the best is yet to come. Crumb Pies, based out of Rocklin, has crossed the finish line in first place. Hearing Mary Jaques’ story, you may not expect the cream of the pie crop. She started out not really loving the sweet treat but entered a pie-making contest for fun—and won. That turned into making them to raise money for her son’s school trip to the East Coast, which then turned into an amazing business. One of the things I love about her particular pies is their lack of crust—like, no crust at all. Instead, each scratch-made confection is filled with in-season fruit then a buttery, hand-crumbled top. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this gives you permission to eat more. I tried the apple blueberry, and the combination was pie perfection. She also offers traditional apple, apple bacon caramel (my mouth is watering), salted caramel apple (still watering), and seasonal flavors like berries and peaches. But it doesn’t stop there. You can order her to-die-for cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, or Reese’s peanut butter cookies, and I can vouch for all of them. Those with dietary restrictions are in luck, too; most items are available gluten-free, sugar-free, and vegan. Unfortunately, none are available fat-free. I asked. Find Mary out and about in her adorable pie wagon, which can also be booked for weddings, parties, and other events; or feed your need by ordering online for pickup or availing of her delivery services in Placer County.
