Ask the Expert: November 2018 Roseville, Rocklin, and Granite Bay

Watering in the winter depends on the weather. If we have copious amounts of rain then watering isn’t necessary. If seasonal rain is absent or more spread out, a deep watering every 4-5 days is recommended. For potted outdoor plants, make sure to water very thoroughly before a freeze (less than 30 degrees Fahrenheit). When temperatures are cooler (50 degrees or under), water less than when it’s warmer. Lastly, if there's a lot of wind, plants will dry out faster and need to be watered more frequently.
