Folsom Parks and Recreation: Fall into Fun

NOVEMBER 4  Folsom Runway

Local dignitaries and residents will strut the catwalk for a good cause from 2-5 p.m. at the Folsom Community Center. The event also includes appetizers, an auction, and a raffle. Proceeds benefit Folsom Runway, a volunteer community group developed in partnership with Folsom Parks & Recreation that provides inclusive recreational opportunities for children with special needs. 916-461-6640 


NOVEMBER 11  Wayne Spence Folsom Veterans Day Parade

The city pays tribute to the nation’s veterans, rain or shine, at this 18th annual parade starting at 9 a.m. The route begins on East Bidwell Street in front of the Target/Home Goods shopping center and ends at Folsom City Lions Park with a brief ceremony to honor local veterans at the Veterans Memorial. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Over a Century of Service to Our Country” and local veteran Jay Wiley serves as grand marshal. Spectators along the parade route can expect to see more than 2,500 participants with floats, classic cars, color guards, and other community groups. folsom.ca.us/parks/events/events/parade.asp


NOVEMBER 16  Folsom Senior Center Thanksgiving Celebration

All seniors age 55+ are invited to this fun social event starting at 11:30 a.m. Festivities include entertainment, light refreshments, and a raffle. Party-goers may bring a brown bag lunch. 916-461-6601 


NOVEMBER 16  Home for the Holidays Reception

The Gallery at 48 Natoma hosts a free public reception from 6-8 p.m. for the new exhibit featuring paintings by Rod Williams, photography by Boni Canning, and dioramas by Judith Monroe. An exhibit of entries in the annual Folsom Focus Photography Contest will also be on display in the adjacent Community Gallery. NOVEMBER 22  Thanksgiving Feast for the Animals

Join the festive atmosphere and watch animals receive specially prepared Thanksgiving treats and meals starting at 11 a.m. Regular admission fees apply. folsomzoofriends.org


ONGOING  Create Holiday Magic 

Groups, families, and individuals are needed to decorate trees and sections of the Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary for their ninth annual Wild Nights and Holiday Lights event.  Caroling groups are also needed to add to the festive atmosphere. Decorating dates begin this month. [email protected]
