El Dorado County has an abundance of local produce, wineries, and talented chefs. For a taste of some of the offerings, check out El Dorado Country Ag in the Classroom's 20 Mile Taste. The sixth annual event is scheduled for August 11 from 6-9 p.m. at the Davies Family Inn at Shadowridge Ranch in Placerville. "Each menu item is made using fresh produce from a farm within a 20-mile radius of the venue and features coordinating [local vintner's wines], creating a true 'mindful pairings' experience," explains Ann Wofford, executive director of Ag in the Classroom. Tickets to the popular 21 and over event—which also includes a raffle,  live auction, and adult farm day—are $50 through August 10, and $55 at the door. This is the only fundraiser put on by Ag in the Classroom, and proceeds go toward their multiple programs that promote education of local agriculture and overall growth of the organization. 20 Mile Taste not only helps young participants of the nonprofit but also benefits the community by helping realize the "greater connection to those in El Dorado County who feed, clothe, and house us, while supporting the programs that educate our county’s youth on where their food, clothing, and shelter originate," says Wofford.
