Saffronn Hut  //  Saffronn Hut is an Indo-Mediterranean restaurant that offers a wide range of tantalizing Middle Eastern and South Indian fare. My recent visit began with a serving of steaming masala chai that wasn’t overpowering yet bold enough to kick things off. I moved on to some flaky, crisp flatbread called paratha and a bowl of piping hot chicken curry. It was Indian-style comfort food at its finest. The curry was a delicate stew from the Indian state of Kerala that’s made for large special occasions and cozy family dinners alike. It contained fragrant spices, thick coconut milk, potatoes, and chicken that was cooked low and slow in order to make it melt-in-your-mouth tender. The rich meal was accompanied by a fresh green salad that cut through the richness of the gravy and a lime and date Indian-style pickle that was sweet, tart and mildly spicy all at once. To go with this array of flavors, I ordered an aromatic iced rose milk that was topped with chia seeds and turned out to be a cooling interlude in between spoonsful of savory stew. Aside from the authentic South Indian cuisine, Saffronn also serves mouthwatering shawarma, grilled chicken, and a variety of sweets that are sure to give you a sugar high.
