Catch All: Good Dog-Dirty Dog 5K Walk and Run

Jul 25, 2017 02:03PM ● By Emily Peter

If you’re looking for a doggone good time, sign up for the Good Dog-Dirty Dog 5K Walk and

Run—the only race in the area that allows man’s best friend to compete with you—on August 27 at Folsom Lake’s Granite Beach. The event has grown each year, and as Bill Driskill from Total Body Fitness explains, “Every runner receives a finisher medal for their 5K run or walk, plus a finisher dog tag for their pup. Included with the entry fee is a ‘Good Dog-Dirty Dog’ T-shirt, athlete goody bag and post-race refreshments.” What’s more, proceeds benefit California State Parks and the Placer SPCA. Entry fees are $50 for those racing with one dog ($55 on race day), $40 for those racing without a dog ($50 on race day) and $10 for each additional dog. “The best part of the event is seeing the dogs enjoy the ‘water stations’ that we set out for them after the race, where kiddie pools filled with water serve as drinking stations, and sometimes bathtubs,” says Driskill. Grab your dog, a leash and join the fun!
