Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Waitr is the premiere restaurant technology platform. Our mission is to develop the local food culture for communities across the country. Our app puts all of the great local restaurants at our customer’s fingertips. It was a mixture of finding one another; the timing of everything just worked out perfectly.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

Washing kitchen mats for a restaurant in Sacramento called The Fish

Emporium. I learned that washing kitchen mats at a busy seafood restaurant isn’t fun, but that I loved the hospitality industry.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

The community—both restaurants and people—are our customers, and Waitr is involved on an extremely personal level. We work to help local restaurants support their families by boosting their sales and making their market bigger; for people, we enable tons of local jobs and, of course, get them tasty food!

What’s your hidden talent?

The ability to cook a pretty awesome paella.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

I haven’t tried them all, but I love the Pad See Ew at My Thai Kitchen. It’s so good!

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

I like to hang out at ClickSpring, a local digital marketing agency. They’re always brainstorming wild ideas! If not there, Bloom Coffee and Tea.

And finally, customer service is…?

Listening to understand, not to respond; also, taking care of people as you’d want to be taken care of.

Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased?

In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements. If you’d like your business profiled, please email Megan Wiskus at [email protected]. Once we determine when your business will be featured, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out and take a photograph. Thank you!
