Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
Since my teenage years, I had dreamed of running my own company, but because my desire to help people through difficult times was stronger—and honestly came very easy to me—I became a licensed counselor, then a social worker, social strategist and coalition director. Today, my business combines the best of all of those experiences. I am an organizational development consultant who helps people, processes and systems navigate change. The key to making the change stick is through leadership excellence, so I support leaders to have the heart, mind and guts to make the change meaningful, purposeful and even exciting!
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
I just moved here from the Chicagoland last August. I have already gotten involved with my children’s schools, and am currently looking to do some pro bono work with local organizations. I plan on being an active and contributing member to our region.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
Firstly, my family—my husband and three sons are the most important people in my world. I’m always proud to be related to them and am excited to see how my boys impact our world; secondly, my foundation work focused on building partnerships with global leaders to bring about a Truth and Reconciliation Commission for post-genocide Rwanda. And finally, I’m very proud of the families I supported while they changed destructive behaviors throughout my social work career with Child Protection Services in Los Angeles.
Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?
Oprah Winfrey. She remains true to her own ideas and her own path. She’s a self-made woman who overcame a difficult past and helps others who are struggling. She gives back to our world freely, confidentially and generously. My goal is to do the same in all areas, or die trying!
And finally, customer service is…?
Treating clients like I would want to be treated.
