Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

This business is a gift! It started with the loving intentions of my husband, and the good energy and support of my family and friends. My husband and I have had a successful business for many years as decorative artists. We generally drive great distances outside of Placerville to provide our clients with creative and beautiful art. This work is very physically demanding, hence my husband sought, with good intentions, to find a kinder, gentler venue for all the creative skills I have. We’re so grateful our landlord is the El Dorado Community Foundation! Not everyone knows of the varied mediums I work in, and I hope to bring many of them to this little space in Placerville. My husband and I have applied some of our finest artistic abilities to the store’s walls, ceiling and furniture. 

What’s your biggest job perk?

I’ve worked as a custom dressmaker for a great part of my life and love combining textiles and colors, so shopping for the clothing in the store has been fun. I’m also a silversmith and now have a happy home for many of my pieces. Some people might remember us for our Itzacake business where we made very ornate cakes and were featured on TLC’s Ultimate Cake Off (and won!). I also enjoy sculpting, fine art and painting, and will be bringing all three mediums into the store.  

If you could be in any other profession, what would it be?

I pay great attention to signs that point me in a particular direction, and then I do my best with what I’ve been given.

I’m grateful for such a classy, beautiful publication that readers can proudly identify with.
