Way of Life Chinese Medicine is a full-service traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) clinic that offers acupuncture, massage, Chinese herbs, vitamins, supplements, consultations, therapeutic exercise instruction, and other TCM therapies like cupping, moxibustion (heat therapy) and electric-stimulation therapy. We also offer unique no-needle treatments for patients who don’t like needles but still want to experience the healing power of traditional Chinese medicine. I’ve been interested in health and nutrition since my teens, and worked at a variety of health food stores, markets, natural food restaurants and herb shops. I took up martial arts training when I turned 18 and soon discovered the wonderful world of pressure points and TCM treatments for martial injuries. A few years later, while working as a retail supplement buyer, my manager approached me about taking over the Chinese herb orders. I gladly accepted, but soon discovered that Chinese herbalism was far more complex than I ever imagined. This compelled me want to go back to school to learn TCM, formally, so I could better help people beyond the retail environment. In 2010, I graduated with a master of science in traditional Chinese medicine and became licensed to practice acupuncture, herbalism and massage. When people ask me why I became an acupuncturist, I often repeat a saying in Chinese martial arts: “What good is it to know 100 different ways to break a bone if you don’t even know one way to put them back together?” In other words, the martial arts and healing arts really go hand in hand. In fact, most of the great Chinese martial arts masters were also famous Chinese doctors. 

What’s your hidden talent? 

I play piano, guitar and drums, and I sing; before acupuncture, I received a bachelor’s degree in music from Sonoma State University.
