Another Dollar Store to Open in Folsom

The answer to the question "Does Folsom need another dollar store?" is apparently yes.
According to a recent report in the Sacramento Business Journal, the former OfficeMax location at 1012 Riley St. will soon open as a 99 Cents Only store. A building permit has been issued for the location and work has begun, the Business Journal reports.
The Folsom OfficeMax location is one of dozens that have closed in recent years, and even more are slated to close this year, as the company's 2013 merger with Office Depot has forced many overlapping store locations.
99 Cents Only got its start in 1982 in Los Angeles, and today operates 350 stores in four states. According to the company's website, the store sells mostly name-brand products for about $1.
The company's expansion is part of a fast-growing industry that has seen double the amount of stores open in the past three years. 99 Cents Only has opened five new locations in California since the end of April alone.
