Folsom

Jonny Lyda has a bright future ahead, as he keeps good grades in school, plays first chair saxophone on the Folsom Middle School Jazz Band and plays lacrosse.

In addition to the saxophone, Lyda plays the flute, piano and guitar. When asked what additional instruments he wants to learn, he says: “I do want to learn more about guitar and also learn vocals.”

He started playing lacrosse after a couple of friends told him he should try it. He enjoys the sport, but also really enjoys playing soccer—an activity he pursues because he was told he should “get out of [his] comfort zone and experience new things.” This is the same advice he would give to anyone under 20. Other than music and sports, Lyda enjoys photography, but has plans of being involved in music or science in the future. —Rachel Meeker
