The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has made several arrests in dozens of recent local mail thefts.

Sheriff’s Deputies served several search warrants on April 16 and 21 at locations in El Dorado County, arresting seven people in all. The Sheriff’s Office believes the suspects are responsible for the majority of thefts in El Dorado County that have taken place in the past six months.

On April 16 deputies served two search warrants in the San Joaquin Valley area. Located during the searches were stolen mail packages, checks, bank account information, social security numbers and related personal information needed to open bank accounts.

On April 21, Sheriff’s Detectives served a warrant in the 1600 block of Beals Road in Placerville. They found large amounts of stolen mail, a stolen laptop, two stolen firearms associated with a burglary in Butte County, methamphetamine, marijuana, and Oxycodone pills. At least 100 mail theft victims are estimated  to be associated with this second raid.
