Grocery Store Closing Folsom Location

Apr 22, 2015 10:54AM ● By Steven Jack
As one super market chain is set to open in Folsom, another is slated to close its doors.

The Save Mart Supermarket on East Bidwell Street will cease operations on May 30, according to a report in the Sacramento Business Journal. The report said the Folsom location is the only Sacramento location that is scheduled to close.

A spokeswoman from the California-based chain said the location has not been successful; however, the company will attempt to place its employees at other locations throughout the area, according to the Business Journal.

Save Mart is a family owned company that was founded in 1952 in Modesto. Today, there are more than 240 stores under the Save Mart umbrella in California and Nevada.

The company's CEO Bob Piccinini died in March after 50 years with the company. He started as box boy and worked his way up the ranks, according to the company's website.
