Located in the Shenandoah Valley, the Deli at Renwood Winery is a scenic and relaxing spot to enjoy lunch and a glass (or two) of vino.

Their outdoor patio is the perfect spot to land almost every day in sunny California. Although outside food and wine aren’t permitted, their deli has offerings for all! During my visit, I ordered the Grilled Cheese and paired it with the recommended 2012 Proclamation Sparkling Cuvée (sold out as of press date, but staff can recommend other great Renwood whites to pair).

While waiting for the sandwich, I sipped my wine and admired the blooming cherry blossom trees. Lunch was soon served, and I quickly dove in. The sub even arrived with the perfect dipping companion: Creamy Tomato Soup!

Cheddar and Gruyère cheeses were perfectly squished between slices of toasted sourdough bread; when mixed with the tomato soup, the flavor became irresistible, especially with intermittent sips of the crisp and refreshing white wine. Next time you embark on an afternoon outing, set your GPS to Renwood Winery.

Note: The deli is open Friday through Sunday, while wine tasting is offered seven days a week. Deli at Renwood Winery, 12225 Steiner Road, Plymouth. 209-245-6979
