Style of riding you do: BMX racing and cross-country mountain biking

How long you’ve been riding: Nine years

Type of bike you ride: For BMX, I ride an Extreme Frame and for mountain biking, I ride a Juliana.

Why you enjoy riding: I love riding bikes in general—I know that every time I’m on a bike I’m going to have a great time! If I’m having a bad day, I’ll go ride; if I’m having a great day, it’s probably because of the riding. I’m so grateful to be able to ride my bike everywhere I go.

Involvement with any local groups/clubs: I run the mountain bike club at my school. We don’t have that many members yet, but we are hoping to grow in the next four years. Outside of cycling, I’m very involved with my local church and compete in multiple other sports at my school, including competitive soccer, basketball and water polo.

Gear you can’t live without: Gear is a big part in cycling, and I’m lucky to have some of the best sponsors and supporters in this area! Personally, I love all of the Leatt gear—from elbow pads to their awesome neck braces. My favorite goggles are the EKS brand—they’re not only sweet looking but also fit perfect and don’t fog up.

Biggest safety tip: Wear your helmet and gear! I know everyone says wearing a helmet is so important and most kids my age don’t, which is crazy because you only have one brain. I’ve seen some people get seriously injured from not wearing a helmet, and I don’t want that to happen to anyone else.

Favorite local ride/route/trail: My favorite place to ride would be my local track—Oak Creek BMX in Roseville. Everyone there is so great, and the track is always in prime condition.

Favorite mid- or post-ride fuel: My favorite snacks on race days or even just practice days would be a Clif Bar or Honey Stinger’s products. They both provide great energy!

Advice to someone who wants to start riding: Have fun! Riding a bicycle can take you so many amazing places and teach you some great life lessons.
