Oct 28, 2014 01:52PM ● By Brenna Mc Gowan

The Annual Holiday Tree Lighting will take place in El Dorado Hills Town Center on Saturday, November 29 from 4-8 p.m., in partnership with the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce and the El Dorado Hills CSD.

This year, the event will feature a Holiday Caroling Contest as part of the entertainment, with three groups chosen to perform live onstage.   Groups of all ages are asked to submit entries via YouTube to [email protected].  The song must be a recognizable holiday carol with a length of no more than 5 minutes.  Groups should have a minimum of 2 individuals and a maximum of 8.  Musical instrument playing is optional and a band will be provided at the live performance.  The deadline for entry is Monday, November 10.  Winners will be announced on November 14.

The Holiday Tree Lighting kicks off at 4 p.m. with a merchant open house, where families will enjoy food, beverages and holiday entertainment.  The first 150 kids to arrive will be invited to play the “Stuff Your Stocking” game, where children visit participating businesses to fill their stockings with special gifts.  Enjoy live entertainment with the music of Five for Dinner from 5-6 p.m.

The Holiday Caroling Contest will take place from 6-6:30 p.m. while families wait for Santa’s arrival on his traditional EDH fire truck to light the tree with magic glitter.  There will be kettle korn, face painting, cookies and hot chocolate!
