First Annual Hangtown Hunger Walk October 26

Who: On October 26, the Food Bank of El Dorado County, in partnership with Union Mine High School, local businesses, organizations and churches will host its First Annual Hangtown Hunger Walk Event at Historic Benham Park in Placerville at 1 p.m.

Why:  To support 30 local hunger response agencies in El Dorado County and to bring the community together to raise awareness regarding local hunger, its causes and consequences.

Who:  The Food Bank of El Dorado County, local community members, businesses, organizations, schools and churches.   

Mary and Ryan Hughes of Diamond Springs have been busy coordinating this event, rallying community and school support, registering walkers and gathering pledges while Doris Henke has been avidly reaching out to local businesses and organizations to garner financial support of this event.  

The Food Bank of El Dorado County will be at the event with its Mobile Food Pantry – Rural Outreach unit to share with the community and provide information on how local families, businesses, servicyue clubs, churches and more can get involved with reaching out to their neighbors in need.

Participants are urged to contact the Food Bank at (530) 621-9950 to get a registration packet, make a donation or offer support for this event.

Where: Benham Park, 3071 Benham Street, Placerville

When: Registration at 1pm; Walk starts promptly at 2pm.
