Ken Morton, Jr. grew up as no stranger to the world of golf. His father worked his way up the ranks at Haggin Oaks Golf Course (starting as a golf club repairman in 1958), and would often take his young son to the course—teaching him the ropes of what would soon become the family business. Although Morton became an accomplished golfer in his own right, he never had any doubt that his niche was on the retail side of the green. While still in college, he spent nights and weekends traveling up and down Northern California, managing sales for five regional courses, including Haggin Oaks. He’s now Haggin Oaks’ Director of Retail and Marketing, and has almost lost count of how many cousins and other relatives have been brought into the fold.

Even so, Morton and his family aspire to never lose sight of the larger family that makes up their local community. For over seven years, Morton was a volunteer firefighter for the Rocklin Fire Department, and he’s now the secretary for the Morton Golf Foundation—an organization that provides scholarships and funds golf programs for youth, the disabled and underprivileged groups. His favorite foundation activity is the annual “Golf and Guitars” concert and golf tournament (takes place in May), which brings country music artists from across the nation together to raise funds for charity. “My job is about more than putting food on the table,” Morton shares. “It’s about making a long-lasting impact on the greater community, and I’m just getting started.”
