Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

My business found me. I don’t think anyone as a child says, “I want to grow up to be a colon therapist.” I believe that our heart’s passion lies in our greatest pain. I found relief and an understanding of my own health issues that started with colon therapy. After a few years of further study and research, I’ve come to know that true health begins within: with the food we eat, the thoughts we think, the words we speak, and the company we keep.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

I was the ice cream scooper girl at Thrifty inside Arden Fair Mall. I had a blast at the time and learned that people are all basically the same, whether young or old. I also learned that I love working with people and each interaction, with a smile and a little ice cream, can be magical. People go nuts about ice cream!

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

Having three daughters who are active in sports, I have limited time; however, I do provide nutrition and cooking classes for the employees at CalPERS and have recently started offering free educational classes and cooking classes at Internal Wisdom. I want to teach people healthier eating skills.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

I love Thai, but lately I’ve been going to Karen’s Bakery in Historic Folsom. I love their fresh salads and how they buy local, sustainable and organic ingredients.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Swimming all summer long—all day, every day!

And finally, customer service is…?

Creating an experience that gives each person who comes in the opportunity to feel like they belong and are getting a good value.
