Siino’s Pizza, Pasta & Grill

When Siino’s Pizza, Pasta & Grill opened in May, the only folks who knew how to pronounce its name (see-no) were those who already knew the 25-year-old owner Annalisa Siino. Prior to the opening of Siino’s, Siino was the franchise owner of the Pete’s Restaurant and Brewhouse where Siino’s now resides.
The new Italian-American hot spot touts a strong local streak, including a beer lineup that taps into the craft brew craze with offerings from nearby Loomis Basin Brewing Company and Roseville Brewing Company, Lincoln High’s Zebra Burger (pepper jack, avocado and bacon), and sweets from Divine Desserts by Aguirre in Loomis.
Excited to get started, we settled into a cushy booth and promptly ordered the garlic twists dusted with Parmesan, which arrived just as promptly as we put in our request. Crispy on the edges and chewy in the middle, they quickly made my comfort-food short list. Even better than the twists themselves was the accompanying marinara sauce. I’m often disappointed by what passes for “marinara,” but this one was truly delectable with it’s rich, robust flavors that tasted like they’d been simmering on Grandma’s stove all day.
Up next was one of the namesake’s signature pizzas—the Chicken Garlic Combo—which came out with the same incredible dough, and was topped with a creamy garlic ranch sauce, tender grilled chicken, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, bacon, and red and green onions. Let’s just say the “combo” is spot-on.
A plate of the Italian standby, lasagna, came out steaming with a bed of the crimson marinara, a stripe of creamy Alfredo and two pieces of garlic bread (basically an excuse to sop up more of the delicious sauce).
My personal favorite, the Tiramisu La Bombe (from the aforementioned Loomis bakery), not only looked heavenly but as we dug into the luscious layers (chocolate cake, coffee cream mousse, rum-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone mousse), all lovingly wrapped in a thick blanket of chocolate ganache, we knew we’d found another reason to say: “See ya at Siino’s!”
