Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I create handmade fashion jewelry using different kinds of gemstones. It started as a hobby, but after building up an inventory, I decided it was time to sell my goods. The pieces can be found on my website and at The Bag Lady in Historic Folsom.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

My first job was in the accounting field (and I’m still in the business). On days when I’m stressed out, I sit in my jewelry area at home and start assembling pieces for my second job. It makes my mind focus on design instead of thinking about my day at work in accounting.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

My proudest accomplishment was raising my children until they left the house; also, helping my niece and nephew in the Philippines by paying for their tuition (in hopes they’ll graduate, get a decent job and start helping their parents send their brothers and sisters off to college).

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

I don’t go anywhere—I brainstorm solutions for the issue.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

Chops Steak Seafood and Bar, Fat’s Asia Bistro and Romano’s Macaroni Grill.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

Powerhouse Pub.

If you could meet someone living or dead, who would it be?

Angelina Jolie and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

Local fairs and garden shows.

If you could be in any other profession, what would it be?

I’d want to own a Starbucks, but the franchise is too expensive.

And finally, customer service is…?

Customer service is identifying the customer’s needs, requirements and expectations.
