Foothill Therapy - Kari Gallego, MFT - Folsom, CA

Describe your business.

As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I provide therapy to individuals, couples and families. Although I work with people on a wide range of issues—including depression, anxiety and grief/loss—I primarily focus on helping people improve their relationships. I’m excited about the addition of intern Jennifer Hagar to my practice.  As a pre-licensed therapist, she sees clients under my supervision, which gives us more options for helping people.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

For more than 13 years I’ve been in private practice in this community, and since I live here too, I feel very connected to the region. This is where my family lives, works and plays!

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

To my husband, family, friends and the gym! I feel blessed to have such a wonderful support system. This is something my clients don’t always have so I provide it for them, while helping them to build their coping skills and support network. I’m also a big proponent of exercise. I work out as much for my mental health as my physical health.

 What’s your biggest job perk?

My job offers me many wonderful things including flexibility, which allows me to work at my practice part-time while also raising my two children. Working part-time keeps me fresh and focused on my clients while I’m there.  Another perk is the feedback I get from clients about how our work has changed their life in some way. I remember a father telling me once that I gave him back his daughter. Talk about rewarding!

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

We love Folsom Lake, eating out at local restaurants and going to the movies; as well, we enjoy the El Dorado Hills Community Service District’s Summer Concerts in the Park.
