Tell us about yourself.

I enjoy helping people, and I believe this is what I’m meant to do in life. This has affected many parts of my life—I volunteer on mission trips every year just for the chance to make someone else’s life better. I believe that this, and my quiet personality, has led me to want to be a nurse. I believe they do just as much as any doctor, but do not get as much of the recognition, which is what I prefer.

What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?

I’m most proud of being ranked second in my class, and being considered for valedictorian. Ever since my brother was named as valedictorian, it has been my goal to match that. It has required a tremendous amount of hard work over the last four years, but I think it’s been worth it.

What are your school interests, involvements and hobbies?

I’ve been playing volleyball since seventh grade, which has been a huge part of my life. My high school and club coaches focused not only on behavior on the court, but off the court as well, and this has instilled many strong values in me. I’m also extremely into music and will play any instrument I can. It has been a favorite pastime of mine for many years.

Describe your career aspirations.

Ultimately, I want to be a flight nurse. Flight nurses accompany the helicopter on emergency airlifts, and are responsible for whether a person lives or dies in the first crucial minutes after an accident. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a paramedic of some sort, and flight nursing seems to be the most viable option for me.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

Rome. I’m in love with history and classic epic poetry, and to see the heart of the largest empire in history would be amazing. The architecture is beautiful, and from Rome it would be easy for me to see other cities like Venice or Florence, and even the rest of Europe.
