Troy Knox

Folsom High School

Tell us about yourself.
I was raised in Pollock Pines and moved to Folsom when I was in fifth grade to play football and baseball. I’m currently a senior at Folsom High School and have just finished my last football season—enjoying a San Joaquin Section championship! I have a sister, Casey, who is also a senior and cheers for the Bulldogs. She is my best friend and biggest fan.

What accomplishment are you most proud of and why?
I’m the all-time leading wide receiver in northern California history: 264 receptions, 3,323 yards and 34 touchdowns. I’m most proud because I have always been told I was too small to be successful.

What are school interests and involvements and hobbies?
I’m involved in Student Government and Bulldogs Reaching Out (BRO), a program designed to help the youth of today “say no to drugs.” I also help coach the Folsom Jr. Bulldogs Midgets, and am involved with the Freshman Mentor program. Outside of school, I enjoy snowboarding and wakeboarding.

What’s one thing that not many people know about you?
I’m an avid cyclist and participated in RAMM (Race Across America), a 3,000-plus mile non-stop race from San Diego to Annapolis, Maryland. I was part of the first junior team to ever complete the race in six days and six hours.

What are your plans after graduation?
To play collegiate football.

Who is your role model?
My parents—they have taught me that hard work and dedication always pays off. My dad was also undersized and was an All-Conference linebacker for San Juan High School. My mom was a three-sport athlete and competed at the college level.

Describe your career aspirations.
I would love to coach and also help talented athletes reach their fullest potential. I’m undecided on my exact career, but am hopeful that after my first year of college I will have a better idea.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Hawaii. I’ve never been and our family was scheduled to go this spring break, but my sister had cheer tryouts for the University of Alabama…Roll Tide!
