Describe your business.

I’m a cosmetologist, esthetician, Reiki master and owner of Desi Threading and More—an eyebrow threading and skin-care studio with two locations. We provide body waxing, advance facials using organic, natural seaweed products, microdermabrasion, body wraps, under eye treatments, eyelash extensions (semi-permanent and temporary), hair treatments, head massages with oil, henna on hair, henna body tattoos, Reiki sessions and more.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

My first job was working at Subway. I learned how to make sandwiches (of course!), have good customer service skills, and how to talk confidently. It was a great experience.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

My staff is very well trained, skilled, and efficient while still working quickly. In addition, they’re respectful and listen to what each client wants. We are like a small family—I’m really lucky to have them.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Finishing my studies as a cosmetologist and opening my own salons after coming here from India. Cathie Anderson wrote articles about us in the Sacramento Bee. Also, being a mom to two beautiful daughters!

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

My role models are Oprah, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Hillary Clinton, my husband Raj, my mom and my brother.  They are all hard workers who are passionate about their work.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

I play solitaire, go to the Indian temple and meditate, or walk on the Folsom Lake trails.

What’s your hidden talent?

I’m a good cook, tailor and healer; I also love to make new friends.

And finally, customer service is…?

I love my clients very much—they’re everything to me. Customer satisfaction is my first priority; if the customer is happy, I feel satisfied.
