If you’re looking for a place to catch up with friends,

watch the game, and enjoy a cold drink or a few appetizers, then Mark’s Sports Bar & Grill is for you. A handful of out-of-town friends were recently home for the holidays, and I was searching for a spot that had a sports bar atmosphere without being uncomfortably crowded. Mark’s was the answer. With TVs and sports memorabilia adorning the walls, along with pool tables and arcade games, Mark’s has all the entertainment one could want. What’s more, the drinks are reasonably priced (especially during the Monday through Friday “Happy Hour,” which goes from 4-7 p.m.) and the food superb. As first-timers, my friends and I ordered the Sampler Platter, which included chicken tenders, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks and onion rings (my favorite)—all served alongside ranch and marinara sauce. The onion rings were hot, crispy and cooked to a perfect golden brown, while the mozzarella sticks were gooey and delicious. I’ll definitely be making many return trips to this happening neighborhood hangout! Mark’s Sports Bar & Grill, 303 Iron Point Road, Folsom. 916-357-5567, markssportsbar.net.
