Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Upon retirement from Aerospace, we purchased the Loomis property and, with the help from family and friends, planted the first acre with Zinfandel. We now have 15 acres planted here in the Loomis Basin. Secret Ravine Vineyards just celebrated its 15th anniversary and the completion of our remodeled tasting room.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

Both of our active owners are members of the Loomis Chamber and the Loomis Lions Club and serve in several capacities. We also belong to the Placer County Wine and Grape Association and the Placer County Vintners Association, currently serving as treasurer/secretary. These organizations provide networking opportunities, which is essential to the growth of our business.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Raising a family, getting an education, and having great jobs that allowed us to travel the world.

What’s your hidden talent?

My husband Ron is a “Jack of all trades,” and I make great chocolate chip cookies.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Owning and operating our own business, setting our own hours, and having time to take vacation.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

For Italian food, La Fornaretta in Newcastle; for steak, Ruth’s Chris.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

Meeting my future husband in the second grade, then meeting up again in high school, and eventually getting married and celebrating our 50th anniversary.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

The Cowpoke Fall Gathering in Loomis.

If you could be any other profession what would it be?

A teacher.

And finally, customer service is…?

Recognizing that the customer must come first and is always right.

Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements. If you’d like your business profiled, please email Megan Wiskus at [email protected]. Once we determine when your business will be featured, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out and take a photograph. Thank you!
