Tucked away on White Rock Road next to Curiosities Fine-Consign is one of El Dorado Hills’ best-kept secrets: Boucane’s Smokehouse. That’s right, real Southern barbeque in El Dorado Hills! Perhaps a tri-tip sandwich or baby back ribs with a side of homemade potato salad will make your mouth water; for me, it was the Pulled Pork Sandwich, one of my favorite dishes. It’s no wonder Boucane’s meat is not smothered in barbeque sauce, it’s far too good (gently spiced and perfectly tender) to need much else. If you opt for sauce, Boucane’s homemade version is like one you’d expect at a true Southern barbeque.
