Get in the Game!

Sep 11, 2013 01:26PM ● By Style
The Placerville Recreation and Parks Department’s 2014 Youth Basketball program—designed to provide a fun experience where sportsmanship and teamwork are emphasized—is quickly approaching! League games will start in January and take place on Saturdays and Sundays at El Dorado High School and neighboring schools. In addition to games, all players will attend one practice per week at local schools throughout the greater Placerville area. If your child is interested in participating, be sure to register him or her soon—the early bird registration fee is $87, and the deadline is September 26 at 5:30 p.m. After September 26, the registration fee increases to $97.
Both boys’ and girls’ divisions are offered for students in grades K-8. If a player wants to request a coach, they must do so on the registration form; if a player has been requested by a coach, they must indicate that on the registration form as well. Roster requests are not guaranteed; however, every effort will be made to accommodate requests received prior to the registration deadline. Otherwise, players are placed on teams with others from the same school or the closest available area.
As in years past, the Placerville Recreation and Parks Department depends upon dedicated parent volunteers to coach more than 80 teams in this program. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering their time, energy and talent as a youth basketball coach, please contact the Recreation and Parks Department at 530-642-5232. As an added bonus and “thank you” for your involvement, the head coach’s child will receive free program registration.
